May I just say something on behalf of the 'self-important, flouncing, conspiracy theorists'? There are different ways of approaching a thread. You can take it at face-value and offer whatever assistance you can. Nothing wrong with that at all. Alternatively, you might have a more 'robust' approach, and that might extend to 'calling out' posters for seeming to have made stuff up. You don't see the 'robust' posters criticising the 'face-valuers' for their approach, so it is a little galling to see criticism levelled the other way.

There's usually a subtle difference between those who are asking needed, searching, required questions and those that are here just to put people down for the sake of making themselves feel better.

The tone difference is small but someone who is simply asking the relevant questions, doesn't use the same sneering tone, and they usually input very little opinion or judgement in their posts until it comes the point where opinion or judgement can be validly made.

The other people, they are less interested in 'fact finding' and more interested in calling people out as a hobby on here, my previous comment was an accumulation of what I see happening across the entire board than anything solely in this thread or part of the board.

If you read my previous post, and I assume you did because you repeated a couple of the words I used, and you recognised yourself in them, that wasn't my intention as although I was piggybacking someone elses comment I was speaking very generally about MSE and the internet/help forums in general.

I know it's not the question you're asking; but what do you mean by paying yourself 'on invoice' ? You should apply PAYE to your director's remuneration and report under RTI as with the other company employees.

Sounds like he's registered himself as self-employed and claiming to act as a contractor of the limited company that he also owns/controls, and is invoicing the limited company for his personal services as whatever he is, thus attempting to negate PAYE tax liability on behalf of the company... maybe?

Struggling to understand that one myself, personally.

Who decides whether questions are needed / searching / required?

I welcome the wealth of knowledge and skill of the MSE forumites, and so must others as otherwise it wouldn't be such a lively place. I may not always agree with questions that are asked but I totally agree that people should be allowed to ask what they would like to ask (short of questions that would reveal the ID of an individual, or intrude into their private sphere - something I have never come across on this forum). Invariably, the questions posed by different people have helped to get to the bottom of someone's issue, and to provide a conclusive answer. The answer may not always be to the liking of the person who asked but what would be the point of withholding factual information from the person asking for help?

Perhaps if the OP would clarify exactly how they operate, more meaningful comment could be offered.

I just have a strong feeling (unprovable, of course) this is yet another case where someone has had their account frozen and then, after a seven page thread of trickle truthing, it emerges that actually OP has done something dodgy or that is outside the norm for 99% of people.

    .......

My best guess would be, yes, that's exactly what the OP means by "i pay myself on invoice", in order to "negate PAYE tax liability".

Trouble is, as far as HMRC are concerned, "Directors are classed as employees" - they don't really permit that treatment. They do not like people negating their PAYE liabilities.:)

Obviously, I don't know whether the OP has taken 'advice', or how long they have been doing this, or indeed whether or not HMRC are aware.
