Even at NMW that would be £185.

Guess it's dinner/drinks in London, rather than Weatherspoons then...?!?

What period does your pay cover?

Does it cover the whole of the month, regardless of when it's paid (so technically you're paid a couple of days 'in hand')

    or

Does it only cover up to the pay date?
  • Thanks for the comments everyone, i was really ambivalent about the whole thing until someone at work pushed from the aspect of how it was just losing money for the year for no reason. i understand fully that from a company costing perspective it's very straight forward, but from a personal and even from a somewhat moral perspective it just feels like i'm losing 3 days pay. not really moaning about it, just trying to see what the wider audience thought about the situation and happy that there are arguments for both ways of looking at it rather than it being an outright win for one side or the other.
  • I am not sure how you lose out, as me for example get paid on the 24th of the month for the whole of said month. So 24th September i get paid for the period from the first to the last day of September. If mine was changed to a different date in september It would still cover the whole of september.
Is that not the case with you?

It doesn't appear to be the case here. i've been paid my full monthly salary every month for the past 20 odd years on 27th of month, (or the last working day before that if 27th falls on weekend or bank holiday). Now paid on 24th of the month but lose 3 days salary over the year so i guess it doesn't cover the whole of the calendar month in my case.

Hi All, i have worked for the same company for over 20 years on Salary. the company said that they wanted to change my salary pay date from 27th of the month to 24th of the month, (3 days early). as a result, they have deducted 3 days pay from my annual salary to be spread across 12 months, so effectively this year, every month i lose 1/12th of the 3 days salary.
My issue with this, is that every month of every year i have received 1/12th of my annual salary, but for this year i will not receive my full annual salary... it will be 3 days short. this 3 days lost salary will only be regained on the day that i leave this company, be that next year or in 20 years time. Bottom line for me is that this year, i lose 3 days pay from my annual salary which i'll never really see again. Thoughts please everyone...

The key is not the pay day but the pay period.

    Has that changed as well?

If the pay period has not changed the pay should not change.

What was the pay period before, many place use calendar months paid near the end of the month

You misunderstand. You aren't really missing out.

Your next 12 payments are for working 362 days. For example 27th September 2019 - 24th September 2020

I suppose you could argue that only around 2/3rds of days in the year are working days so you should only lose 2 and not 3. Either that or your salary should be 362/365 of what you're normally paid.
