This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning all
Up at silly o'clock for holiday !! Taxi is coming at 5.30 we are just having a cuppa and then OH will run the pup to his dads and just pop her in the door.
Just a last few bits to put in the case and dw to put on and bin emptied and then we are done.
Off to hopefully find some sun and adventures, see you in 11 days and take care xx

Morning everyone
redruby - thanks for starting us off, safe trip, enjoy x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, chill in the air, but yesterday was lovely and sunny - same is forecast for today.
DH up and getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit, enjoying his lie-in whilst on hols from work. DS2 settled and ok.
Dinner last night was roasted chicken with a spicy rub and HM egg and veg fried rice. I remembered to get the meat out to defrost, which I'll turn into a casserole in the slow cooker before I go to work this morning, so main part of meal will be ready when I get in tonight.
Yesterday work was quite busy in the morning, then eased off in the afternoon, and for a while in the afternoon I was in the office on my own so was quite busy. Back to my normal office today - then on days' off until Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Looks like another nice day on the horizon, the good weather is making a difference to everyone's mood, so much more cheery!
I didn't do very much when I got home yesterday I was so tired. I've filled the skip but think I may get another mini one to finish tidying the garden, still lots of rubble to go from the steps. The decking guys didn't turn up yesterday, they are so close to finishing!
Pleased to hear Scampi had some playmates tru.
Hope you manage to get home soon Gers.
Off to work soon, must get petrol on the way or I'll not get home!
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks.
All during my sleep I was dreaming about the planning for my 'weekend leave'. :rotfl:
Today will bring some more freezer restructuring (decluttering). The 11 year old haggis got me very worried. I'll also get myself out for a walk.
DM did some work in the kitchen yesterday, she's trying to prove that she can manage some easy tasks. We'll see!
Now I wish everyone a happy Wednesday.0 -
Good morning, it's grey and cold here, hope it picks up a bit.
Thanks for starting redruby, and hope you have a wonderful holiday!!
I didn't get to post yesterday, and haven't even read back - we had Dgs and he keeps us on the go, he's into absolutely everything. We did have some respite when he had his nap, but I was busy catching up with jobs. We took him to the park in the afternoon, he likes the little swings.
I wish I'd done some washing yesterday, it was fine and breezy, and would have dried. It might brighten a bit later.
This morning I'm nipping to see a friend who has asked me to take up some trousers, Then it'll home , and doing housework.
NMLC. hope you are ok now after your nasty in law upset you on Sunday.
Elona. it was nice to see you posting the other day
Have a good Wednesday everyone, if you can, thinking of the MIA's and those who are ill or struggling with life.
Take care folks xx0 -
I really should read back and catch up before posting!!
Camelot, sorry to hear things weren't too good for your DD and baby, but I'm glad to hear they are a bit better.
Gers, an 11 year old haggis !! I wonder what other gruesome discoveries you'll make.
Glad you are going to get a break anyway.
Hello Speky, nice to see you, hope you are ok0 -
Good morning, we have a sunny day forecast but it is chilly at present.
Husband's birthday yesterday so I made a lamb roast with polenta-crusted potatoes, yorkshires and veg.
I'm going out later, with a friend, just to walk in a pretty local park.
Redruby, have a great holiday.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
A friend is coming for coffee this morning and we are going out to a country pub for a late lunch this afternoon.
I’ve got one load in the washing machine and that should line dry today as it is a bright sunny start to the day, and forecast to be good all day. I really do want to try and use the dryer a bit less this year.
Camelot It was good to read that Sophie and your daughter are doing much better.
Gers I hope that your arrangements go to plan and you get your break back home. You so deserve it after all the time you have spent away.
Tru I’m really enjoying reading about Scampi again.
SR sounds like you were kept busy yesterday
Redruby have a good holiday.
AOD enjoy your walk.
Specky good to see you back, sounds like you had a good holiday with your family.
Thinking of those who are struggling with life, and those looking after poorly people.
I hope that you all have a good day xx0 -
Good morning everyone and happy hump day!
Yesterday, after work, I had the physio which cost me £47.50. Well and truly adding insult to injury. But he is good and I am feeling slightly better. Ultimately, the more exercise/stretching I do on my own, the less I need to see him, so that price tag is plenty of motivation for me to get going - not that I needed it.
No gym this morning as I had another batch of blood tests to give, which will hopefully be my final. This is to see if there's been any improvement on my folic acid levels which we slightly low and might have been causing my dizzy spells. I must admit, I have noticed a reduction in occurrences. So I'll go to the gym after work for a bit then not much else planned. Pork belly with some veg tonight me thinks.
RR - Enjoy your holiday!!!
Gers - I take that as good news about your DM. Baby steps.
HH - Enjoy your lunch.0 -
Morning all,
Hope you have a fab holiday Redruby, you deserve it.Bit tired this morning as DDog wanted to go out at 1am and was then flapping her ears. and shaking her head.Managed to get some drops in but then stayed down on the sofa in case she woke again.Because DS2's room is in the basement it gets a bit noisy down there if she starts scratching (wooden floorboards over his head):(
Bit more progress on the flooring, just the part near the kitchen units and downstairs loo to do now.DB called yesterday,he was quite impressed and took some photos to show SILStill stuff all over the place as he had to empty a cupboard and take the doors off but we'll get there!
Morries have just delivered so that's been put away, think we'll have sausages for tea,and I need to put the BM on ,we're completely out of bread.
Gers glad to hear DM is 'pottering',and hope you get your weekend away at home.
Wishing you all a good day xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Morning all, apologies for absence..my sister phoned me on Sunday to get back to Wales so I drove back in the afternoon. We both stayed very late Sunday and went back again Monday and my father passed away on Monday afternoon. They'd put a syringe driver on him to deliver painkillers and some other things so he passed fairly peacefully and not in pain.
As you can imagine, now we are running round like headless chickens phoning, making appointments etc to get the things sorted that you have to get sorted so I may be sporadic in the posting stakes for a bit .
Hope your break goes off well Gers. Enjoy your holiday rr..Speky, glad to hear you're improving. Congratulations on your grandchild camelot! Wb Nelskihey Holly, good to see you! Happy belated birthday to mr AOD...Hope TA is doing ok...good luck getting teens to switch on a washing machine dumpling! Good luck with the chard SO, you might be able to get some kale going as well if you can find some in the gc's. ILovecomps, I know what you mean, my father made thirteen Christmas cakes every year, I think I'm going to have to continue with that, or maybe my sister will. Rosy, congrats on your anniversary! Tru, good to hear scampi is doing well. Sorry to anyone I've missed, I'm reading in a hurry!
