New boiler advice please

We are having a new kitchen installed after christmas. Our combi boiler(Myson Midas) is about 13 years old and is fitted close to the window. When we have had it serviced they always say that it shouldnt be fitted there because of new regulations. As we are getting the kitchen done we want to move the boiler into the garage. Can anyone give me an approximate idea of how much it will cost, and recommend a good boiler to go for. Thanks.

Valiant is the rolls royce of the boiler world, so if you can stretch to one then go for it. Otherwise Worcester Bosch is a decent make as fama mentions.

Really you'd need to call a corgi guy out to give you an estimate on fitting costs as it depends on pipe work etc. Get a couple of quotes at least for comaprrison.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Half decent boiler as mentioned circa £800
Fitting and comissioning the system anything from £250 to £800 depending on where you are and what is done.
    i.e. powerflushing if necessary.
  • Wow! I am impressed with the facts Aardvark Heating has provided.

Is there an easy to understand document on the regulations of where you can position your boiler? I want to move my boiler from the bedroom to the kitchen.
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Good afternoon: Yes..I've posted this link so many times now I know it off by heart;) http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/uploads/documents/housingbuildings/ce30.pdf

A competent CORGI should be very familar with this document as it forms part of the 'energy efficiency' C&G qualifications for domestic heating. Further info is also available here http://www.oftec.co.uk/publications/DomHeatingComplGuide_id1165340.pdf

We have just had a new condensing combi fitted, so far we are very happy with it. We have a- Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30si My engineer said he fits nothing else when he has the choice. I researched it on various DIY/Heating forums and found this particular boiler was considered to be one of the best around. Its response rate is terrific and it is incredibly quiet, we finally have a proper shower!. I also have an infra-red room stat, perfect for leaning over and knocking the temp up a couple of notches before you finally get out of bed....

Really? Don't know if you'd get everyone to agree with that. Viessmann maybe, but I wouldn't go comparing Valliants to Rolls Royces.
