Best gaming laptop for £1000

HI. I'm looking to replace my laptop. I need it predominantly for work, secondary school teacher, however I am looking for a laptop that can be used for gaming, has a good processor, large memory.

I am looking to spend up to or around £1000.

£100 for a refurbished lappy , solitaire and word processing and surfing. Seriously tell what games and what work, not just teaching sheesh, be concise no wonder the next generation is not going to save the planet:D

On my PC I used an MSI motherboard and video card which are very good, so if it was me, I'd be having a look at an MSI laptop.

Overclockers have a few under £1000. Only you will know the games you play and the hardware specifications they require.

Almost any modern laptop will cope with the "office" type apps that are likely to be needed for the admin side of your work. If you need to run any specific teaching software that places high demands on memory or CPU as part of teaching (I struggle to think what would to be honest) then it will be down to the school to provide the appropriate equipment.

You pay double for a “gaming” laptop, compared to an “office” one of a similar consumer grade. Each to their own, but personally I’d rather not bother with a gaming anything.

An Asus 15” i5 Vivobook, with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD, is £499, or about £5 more with Windows 10 Pro. The Win 10 Home one is available from Amazon. That’s nearly half the price of the Asus gaming one from Very, in the earlier link.

Whilst the thought is correct, a desktop will be far more upgradable, it would still cost £800 upwards for something that is entry level.

However, the days of PC's needing a drastic upgrade every year is long gone - a decent gaming laptop (or desktop of course) will still play new games at decent settings for a few years yet.

OP, ive not long bought a Dell G5 15" - 256SSD / 1TB HDD, 8Gb RAM (2 x 4Gb sticks), 1660ti, 144Mhz screen for just over £1000 as they had a 16% discount at the time (and they do again now I think).

The 1660ti GPU is probably the best 1xxxx series there is and means the system is cheaper than going for the silly money of the 2050/60 that are not much of an upgrade.
