in Credit cards
Hi I had a Barclay card. Anyway after being abroad and not checking my mail I saw that my payments were not getting paid. I called them and basically they transfered the balance of around 8k to PRA group Limited.
Anyway I am no longer living in the UK and I want to avoid any penalties and just pay it.
Can anyone give me any tips advice please to not pay crazy fines etc?

Hi,
It is likely that the account was defaulted, which means no new interest or charges. You would need to contact PRA direct, to find out the amount due, so that you can arrange account settlement. Since the account is with a Debt Collection Agency, then PRA may well accept any reasonable offer to settle the account.

Really? So if I owe 8k what should I offer them do you think?
Thanks for the advice.0 -
That is up to you. Many people would start with 30%-50% offers to test the water. If you wait until February 2020 before making an offer, then they are more likely to accept something lower at this time, as it would be heading toward the end of the financial year, and PRA would be looking to clear their books.
Have a read of the article linked below. It includes a link to a well-worded letter template with which you can make your offer.

If you owe £8k then you offer £8k.
Did you not update your address when you moved abroad?0
