There are few parties in the world more famous than Oktoberfest – the folk festival held in the Bavarian city of Munich that lasts longer than a fortnight and celebrates everything from traditional German culture to food, great beer and more. But did you know you can get a stellar slice of Oktoberfest right in the heart of London? Yep, that's right – if you're not one of the autumn festival's six million annual attendees in Munich, you should be going to London Oktoberfest instead.
Each year, this cult London event sees Millwall Park, Olympia London and City Central at the HAC transformed into a gigantic German bierhalle for select dates in October and November. This year's event sees two runs at Millwall Park near Canary Wharf from 3-6 and 10-13 October, a special Halloween Oktoberfest at Olympia London in West Kensington from 24-26 October and one final run in Central London (next to Moorgate Station) from 15-16 November.
At the event, you'll take a seat at a long table, dine on bratwurst and schnitzel and drink extra-large German-style maß glasses full of Bavarian Festbeer lager and shots of Jägermeister to the awesome soundtrack of live oompah music and old-school rock'n'roll. There'll be singing, there'll be dancing, there'll be merriment and there most certainly will be lederhosen under the roof of the festival's magnificent big top tent. Basically, you can sign us up.
