    Hi

    Bit of a contradiction ?

How much would you pay ? £100 ?£200?

Well yes and no. I can pick up "normal" 160cm length roman blinds for £20-30 each but it's when you start getting them made that they cost £100 each. I don't really want anything expensive or that much more than what I would be able to pick up the standard length for.
  • Hi

If you can get them for £100 each you'd be doing well. Try Ikea wood slat blinds and cut them down to suit. It's a tedious process as you have to cut both sides to make it even. IIRC you can cut something like 3 -4cms off each side.
They are not very robust so don't expect then to last too long or take much abuse. You get what you pay for.

  • Could you add a 20cm border of contrasting/co-ordinating fabric to the bottom of the Ikea ones?

I wish I could, but the actual window is 180cm. Actually, I see what you mean, hmm, possibly.

I just don't want to abandon the idea of roman blinds when you can get 160cm drop ones for £20-30 each.

  • They are quite easy to make yourself.I have made some for my kitchen and
bathroom and made one for my daughters house also.
  • If you fancy trying to make them follow this link http://www.hutchal.clara.net/curtains/roman.htm

Once you`ve made some you`ll be amazed how easy they are and of course
you can choose your own fabric.
