Bathroom Replacement

Hi All,
Long time admirer, first time actually attempting some real DIY.
We are renovating our house to rent out and have accepted our limitations with the plastering and gotten someone in to do it. (only requiring a skim as we have refitted plasterboard when the walls were pretty much totaled pulling down the 40 year old bathroom!)
The main questions i have are regarding the bathroom.
There is a bath without a shower (separate shower room) and so we only intend to do a few tiles around the bath for splashes and a couple above the sink.
1)How long after the plaster do we need to leave it before we can 'mist coat'?
2) I have heard conflicting things about the area around where we plan to tile? Should i be mist coating the whole room or leaving patches around where the tiles are going?
- If we mist coat the whole room, do i need anything else to make the tiles fix properly?
- equally, if we leave the area the tiles will go do i need to be using anything special to afix the tiles to the walls?
I'm planning on just using medium sized cheap light tiles ideally, but just to make it look smarter.
Sorry to sound so hopeless! Got to start somewhere!
Many thanks in advance

I don't think we mist coated on areas that were to be tiled but in all honesty would it really hurt if you did? Cost and time wise is negligible in a bathroom.0
