The gas meter position means that I, in my 8th decade, have to kneel on the soil slightly downhill to read it. It looks better there than white boxes on a wall. My query is about smart meters and btw I was totally against but have come around wrt the readings being automatic to providers. There is a smart meter, was there for BG, it only read electric, I have changed from BG to Octopus and now need to send monthly readings, which I have to take. Has anyone any idea what happens next wrt smart meters being accessible to all

Unless you don't have gas, your new home should have a smart gas meter somewhere. Keep searching

As for being accessible to all, I understand the current govenment says we are on track to be all be offered a smart meter before the end of next year (but no obligation to accept)

But only 85% of homes will have them even in 5 years time.

You seem well ahead of the curve ... :T
