Third party ( bus) hit my car and refused to stop and now denying his involvement

Hello everyone,
I’m new to this ( my first thread ) :)

So I was stationary in traffic light in a busy intersection ( on the right lane ) with my Mrs sitting next to me. A bus which belongs to a private company with a nasty driver have got so close to my left side and stopped in the left lane. Once the light turned green he move and smashed my wing mirror and part of left corner of my car and refused to stop! I followed him flashing my lights and beeping wanting him to stop but he refused. My Mrs called the police who advised its not an emergency  and advised to report it online or go to local police station and advised me not to follow him. So I went to police station and reported it.

I have them done some research about the bus owner which was written on the side of the bus and emailed them straight away! I then got an aggressive email stating their buses are fitted with dash cam and their driver reported an incident of another driver ( assumingly me given him a middle finger but there was no mentioning of an accident ) I got happy with dash cam thenig and relied to them pls check it at the time if the accident. He was like ok I’ll have a look and let u know. After Which I contacted my insurance provider and informed them about all f the above. They said ok they r happy for me to claim as not at fault and I have one of 2 options, to pay the excess to them and they will fix my car and I’ll get my excess once they recovered the money or to go though a company called Auxillus and I don’t have to pay no excess or nothing. I got excited about Aucillus however, reading the online review I got scared, they will kind of force y to hire an expensive car and all and if they don’t recover the money they might come after me. So I’m stuck on what to do. Going back to the bus company owner, they have sent me a footage of a car which is completely not my car so I relied what a joke that’s not even my car and asked them to check the rite footage. They left is for a day then they got aggressive and attacked me with an email saying I was my fault and I hit their car which is all in the footage ( a complete lie) and insisted I provide my policy number, I of course refused and said no except if you give me the footage of the accident time. So what they did, they emailed me a pic of my car about 10 mins before the accident! So they are refusing to give any footage of the accident they are just trying to get my policy number.
My last email to them was stop emailing me and for any correspondence go my insurance provider and I have forward all if the emails to my insurance provider

Pls advice what should I do.

Many thanks

In future consider getting your own Dash cam, they are not that expensive. I would also not be replying to them, leave it to your insurers.

I would treat it as any other hit and run - Take some pictures of the scene of the accident, get the plate of the guilty party, report it to the police and my insurer.

Optionally I would contact the company owning the bus, to report the accident to them and ask for cooperation. The second they start stonewalling me, I would stop wasting effort.

As for the claim you have a 3rd option - pay for the repair yourself and not claim at all. How expensive is your car and how much does a 2nd hand wing mirror is vs. the excess + increased insurance until the other party admits liability?

I think it unlikely that any dashcam footage from the bus will show what happened due to where the dashcam will be pointing - they don't tend to look down the side of the bus. A dashcam on your car would show you were stationary and therefore the other driver was as fault, but without this, you can't prove that you didn't manoeuvre into him, so the insurers will probably split the cost 50/50, which means you might as well just claim on your insurance or pay the claim yourself to avoid losing your NCB and having your premium increased.

    Don't use Auxillus.

Something similar happened to OH few years back. They tried all sorts of b- s,- to put him off eg bus was owned by another company and only leased to them, driver was from Eastern Europe and no longer in UK. Hang in there you'll get paid eventual!y.
