Nationwide current account missing from Experian report

Options
I checked my Experian report and noticed that it didn’t include my Nationwide current account (ie the account that my salary is paid into), only an empty dormant account that I hold with them and the joint account that I hold with my wife. According to Nationwide:
“this is because the account was opened in February 2000, which was prior to September 2001.
It was not stated that we would pass information on the CRAs in the Terms and Conditions of our Current Accounts opened prior to 2001.
Due to system limitations, we are unable to start reporting any data for this account to the CRAs, regardless of whether the member now gives us permission.
If the member would like to build up a credit history they will need to use a different account which was opened after September 2001.”

Anybody else come across this?! My Experian credit score is excellent (999), do I need to go to the trouble of changing accounts just so that Experian can see my salary being paid in each month?

Experian won't know which account your salary is paid in to.

Positive balances and account use isn't reported to CRAs.

Experian, or indeed any CRA, can't see your transactions.
  • Unless you have an overdraft on the account there’s no reason for it to be on your files.

Even then it’s no advisable to show the overdraft being used.

Your score is neither here nor there since lenders don’t see, use or care about it.
  • Thanks all, I think that I'll just leave well alone then :)
