Nationwide travel insurance

I'll be downgrading my flexplus account in the next few weeks when the interest payment stops on the credit balance.
I therefore wondered whether I would be eligible for European free travel insurance given the account was a legacy flex account, I have contacted nationwide but wondered what others opinions or experiences were.
Made my first claim on flexplus a few weeks ago and was quite disappointed with the response, or lack thereof, eventually got the majority of the claim paid and £100 compo for poor service. Administered by uk insurance, part of direct line, and the matter was greatly delayed with lack of response, hence the payout.

I'm not sure what you mean by "given the account was a legacy flex account".
Do you mean it was originally a FlexAccount and you upgraded it to a FlexPlus one?
To qualify for the free travel insurance you needed to have a FlexAccount or have applied for one by 14th December 2016. To keep the benefit you'll have needed to pay in at least £750 per month into the FlexAccount since then.
If you've only had a FlexPlus a/c then you'll never have qualified.
If you upgraded from a FlexAccount to a FlexPlus one then you'll no longer have been able to pay £750/month into a FlexAccount and any benefit will have lapsed.
If you had a FlexAccount with the benefit and opened an additional FlexPlus a/c then as long as you kept paying £750/month into the FlexAccount then you'll still have the benefit but not if you stopped the £750/month.
We have opened a few FlexDirect a/cs over the last few years when you were able to repeat the 5% interest rate. We've never upgraded our joint FlexAccount though and have always funded it by £750/month to keep the travel insurance.0
