PPI Settlement Advice needed

Hi forum,
I has a PPI settlement in March 2018 which, it turns out, was via a 3rd Party (Paragon).
I never received an invoice from Paragon for their services for that claim until last month when I received a letter from Barclays stating I had money due back (via Paragon).
As it turns out, they had re-opened the same case from March 2018.
Do I have any recourse on the original money I owe them? I'll be honest, that money has long since been spent as I wasn't aware I owed them anything as I had no request for payment.
Do I have any other options?
- pay back in instalments?
- make them an offer for half?
- not pay them at all, as so much time has expired since the claim?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Have paragon contacted you with an invoice?helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
Yes. Initially the invoice was for the 'new' claim. That Barclays confirmed has already been settled 18 months ago.
I told them I wanted evidence from Barclays that they were involved in the original case. I've now seen that they were involved.
I wondered whether due to the amount of time passed and no original invoice, that I had any recourse.0 -

You signed a legally-binding contract with this firm and so you knew perfectly well you would be liable for their fees if your complaint was successful. As such, you should have put this amount to one side. They have up to six years to retrieve this money I believe.
Certainly, they were remiss in not sending you a bill for their services but that does not mean you don't still owe the amount you agreed to pay.
In your circumstance, I'd attempt to negotiate payment in instalments. If you simply refuse to pay, you'll end up in court I'm afraid.
The good news is that all Claim Companies are now fully regulated, so if they refuse to accept instalments you should contact the Ombudsman for advice and assistance.0 -

That's the bit I was after. I think I am more surprised I was never chased for the money (and admit I'd lost track of who was looking at what for me).
Will offer instalments, or a one-off settlement.
Appreciate the help.
