~6 year old utilities bill

I've received a gas and electric bill that covers a period from 2013 to 2014 and a notification that it will be taken to court. So part of the bill is older than 6 years, and part isn't.
It's my understanding that bills older than 6 years cannot be enforced. Where do I stand in this instance?

Welcome to the forum.
Presumably this bill is from a Debt Collection firm and not the Gas/electricity company??
We get plenty of these cases on this forum and - assuming it is a valid bill - it is the date the bill was originally produced that determines if it is covered by the(6 year) Statute of Limitations0 -
Thanks for the quick response!
Yes, it's a debt collection agency chasing it up.
How could I find out when the bill was originally produced?0
