To use the amazon firestick for the free stuff, specifically the app "TV Player", do you need to have the amazon PRIME, or would just having a amazon account allow the "TV Player" app to work?

You don't need Prime to use the firestick, but expect to have various films, shows and whatever waved at you to encourage you to get one.0
