Is it worth repairing Vauxhall Astra?
Hi, I have a vauxhall astra 2006, 55000 mileage. Recent MOT passed but with the following advisories :
Nearside Front Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing
Rear Tyre slightly damaged/cracking or perishing both sides
Nearside Front Lower Suspension arm ball joint has slight play wishbone
Front Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrule both sides
Rear Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrule both sides
Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened both sides
Offside Front Suspension arm corroded but not seriously weakened
Is this worth repairing and any ideas of how much it may roughly cost?
Thanks!

If it was me, I would get the two tyres replaced and leave it at that for now.
If the wear or corrosion were anything to worry about then it wouldn't have passed an MOT and to be honest, I doubt that there is a 13 year old Vauxhall, Ford, VW etc on the road that wouldn't get similar advisories when going for an MOT.0 -
I’d certainly budget for brakes (front) and tyreshave they been on a long time? Low mileage for the year. Have you checked yourself how bad are they? You might find next mot is the same passed with those advisories. Might be that they all need doing for next mot it’s difficult to say without seeing them. Certainly keep an eye on the tyres. If you have the cash set aside though for when it needs doing.0

I have a similar age, similar mileage Megane which had the same "slight corrosion to brake pipes" advisories for 3 years in a row, did nothing about it, then on the 4th MoT there was no mention of it at all!
Makes you wonder....0 -
I have a 54 plate Astra, last two MOT,s had similar advisories, have changed one of the tyres due to a puncture but as i only do about 3000 miles a year or less i do not worry
The mechanic in the garage said they were only there as they have to check everything ( and i have no problebs with this ) and they were only advisories,if serious it would be a fail.0 -
I'd fit 2 new tyres (but move them around so they're both on the same axle) and do nothing else.
See what happens at the next MOT.0
