Worktops

We've had the following -
House 1 - laminate
House 2 - oak
House 3 - teak with granite island
House 4 - granite
House 5 - iroko with granite island
House 6 - granite (fitted by previous owner)
House 7 (current home) - iroko with microcement island
Initially I liked the idea of granite on the main worktops but eventually decided it was too busy and preferred the perimeter worktops to be a solid colour. We considered a plainer marble/granite and for our current kitchen we looked at loads in stone fabricators but decided to go back to iroko.
It does require relatively frequent oiling, but we love the way timber ages and darkens........Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
