Nail polish remover can melt plastic, WD40 works on it.

Eucalyptus oil removes anything sticky (also a great antiseptic/insect bite treatment, and great for inhaling when you have a cold!)

Works even on cd cases which can look "misted" when treated with other sticky stuff removers.
    Softstuff- Officially better than 007
  • The magic eraser from JML. Works a treat. Also really good at cleaning pen marks off walls. You can get them in many pound stores.

Thank you for this! I bought a couple of the Worth it compartment boxes from Woolies to make sweetie boxes with, but the pisky labels are so stubborn! I've just managed to get all the residue off without having to buy any special product or risk marking the clear plastic, so thanks :)

Nail varnish remover on a bit of cotton wool, rub it gently and it's gone ... and it WON'T melt the plastic!

I wonder whether furniture polish, WD40 and the Lakeland stuff are all similar in that they contain silicone? Maybe work your way up in price and availability lol.

I know it's already been said but surgical spirit or nail varnish remover's probably the best and cheapest option - nail varnish remover can sometimes stain things though.

Sorry to hi jack the thread but I have an annoyance with labels on white goods like washing machines. I've spent yonks trying to get the massive labels off the front with cleaning products that don't work! Would surgical spirit etc work on this as would hate to damage an expensive appliance. I do wish the manufacturers wouldn't stick them on  Thanks.

We use tescos furniture polish think its about 60p(or it was the last time I bought it), we use it to get the sticky labels off books, spray on the label leave it for 10 minutes then slide a sharp knife underneath & hey presto. sorted.
    Hope that helps
