If you don't get any joy with the letter you just sent, make a formal complaint to the FO http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/

The FOS will only entertain complaints after you've exhausted the provider's official complaints procedure and obtained a letter of deadlock.

Sorry to hear your problems with NWide, I have been a nationwide customer for nearly 5 years now and have had excellent service. had a few problems like yours iwth my credit card once 3 years back and more recently 2 weeks back. Both the times the issue was dealt with immdeiately and once the forms were filled and details sent by registered post I always received a couple of calls from them updating me on the status and also finally letting me know that the matter was successfully dealt with.

Unfortunately seems like you have been having a bad experience with Nwide which I believe is a small percentile of customers who have had problems with nationwide.

I hope your letter to Beale sorts out the issue. Best of Luck

  • I agree with Yorkshireboy, but also with the sentiment expressed by GeorgeUK. I firmly believe that if you have genuine cause for complaint you should take it to the highest level possible. This has usually worked for me - but even if it doesn't, surely it is better to get the brush-off from the top man, rather than from some nameless little snot in the Customer Serice Department.
  • Wow I'm surprised by this too. The three times that DH and I have had disputed transactions they have been refunded immediately and with a minimum of hassle and paperwork, including a list of fraudulent overseas transactions on DHs credit card (about 14 of them worth about £3k) just this summer. It is really unusual that you've had this experience so keep persevering.

Have to say I've dealt with NW including a credit card for 20 odd years and found them to be excellent. I wouldn't put people off having their products, in fact I always recommend them.
