Morning everyone
Seeing all these posts mentioning Christmas cake has made me think about making one this year. I’m not really keen on the shop bought ones but do like a homemade one. I think I’ll have a look through my recipes and maybe make one next week.
The weather is good again today so I’m going to make the most of it and go out this afternoon. I think there are quite a few events going on in the area today so I will have a look through and see if anything takes my fancy.
Before I go out I will have a quick vacuum through and that will be the extent of my housework today.
I hope that you all have a good day xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Lovely to see returnees. :j
This morning I'm expecting a W delivery, all the heavy stuff I struggle to carry upstairs from the street. I could do it, one step at a time style though prefer not too. Think we'll be stocked up for a good few months.
Then DM's Saturday crossword friend is coming today. He was away on holiday until yesterday so, rather than miss a week, it's happening today. There's cream to whip, cakes and pies to cut and an elegant tray to set. I may either visit a friend or make a start on the freezer. Or I may just do some more watching of Jonathan Creek.
It feels most odd not starting another academic year, it's hitting home about actually finally being retired. My mind is not moving from 'unemployed'. Apart from a short three months when I first moved down to Newcastle in 1975 I've been in full time employment since 1971. At a couple of points I worked two jobs to save enough for trips to Australia, the first of which was six months long. I worked in the bar at Newcastle Airport long before it was extended.
Anyway, I'd better set things up. DM will want her porridge by now.
Happy Sunday to all.0 -
Good morning all, where is this sun of which you all speak
- its piddling down here.
Hey Nelski, great to see you back,we missed you :T
I took myself off for a long walk yesterday afternoon to get to a viewpoint for the Tour of Britain cycle ride. Quite a lot of others had the same idea and we all got given a flag to wave as the riders came pastOver in the blink of an eye but I enjoyed it.DH was laying the new flooring so I got out of the way as it's proving a bit tricky in parts with some swearing *&$£!;).Ly1a hates any work going on and heads upstairs at the first sighting of a screwdriver. Her first choice of bolthole is under DS1s desk but unfortunately for her he was having a clearout. Our microwave tripped everything last week and fried his hard drive on his Mac .:eek:This is where all his work stuff is so a bit of a pain.He bought a new hard drive yesterday and he'll have to load it all up again.Fortunately he does have a back up but it's a fair bit of work.
We went out for an Indian at a new place in town to celebrate our 44 ()yr wedding anniversary last night. It was lovely ,really fresh food although a little bit slow, but we got a free drink. We'll certainly go back.
More flooring to be done today,no doubt I'll be upstairs with the hound again, might even clean the bathroomTake care all xx

Good to see you posting Nelski.
Gers, I "retired" six years ago at 55 to help look after my parents but it's only in the last year I've felt able to describe myself as retired, it just felt too weird before then.
Chris and Crystal were safely delivered at the airport over two hours before their flight and of course baggage check in and security took less than 10 minutes total so they had a long wait. Hopefully they will have a lovely time. Tibs, the cat has settled in well, the previous times she has been here she has stayed upstairs most of the time but yesterday she stayed in the living room with us.0 -
Drizzling all day here, ño walk, so I have been up and down stairs to have some activity done......going out to kitchen in a bit to put on chicken and prep for dinner.
