Shame to see another one go. The online travel market is very fast becoming a duopoly between Expedia Group and Booking.com Holdings. Given that they own the comparison sites as well, and largely redirect to their own multitude of brands, none of this is good for us consumers.

    I disagree.
You use the big boys to see which hotel gives you the best value - then you contact the hotel direct - telling them the best price you have found and can they do any better?
Most of the smaller hotel/chains will as the big boys take a serious amount of commission on every booking.

This advice is absolutely correct. I run a B&B and the best price is always available direct over the phone. Clever guests phone me quoting my price on 'Booking.com' and I offer a discount over the phone. It's standard practice in the industry - all my local competitors do it as well. Book direct!

I think this is one OTA failure that few in the hotel and travel trade will mourn. Amoma had some rather disingenuous business methods and practices which resulted in them annoying many hoteliers.
