    Hi AGB863

Thanks for the information, it's very much appreciated, however, I have today registered an official complaint with both the OFT, and my local trading standards.

Trading standards have registered my complaint under a “criminal investigation” I have also sent the OFT a written complaint regarding the harassment we are experiencing.

I'm still continuing to receive calls from Northern Rock, so far I have received 2 today, they have no respect what soever for the stress and anxiety they are creating.

I would urge anyone suffering the same experience as us, regardless of the company, to go ahead and make an official complaint to the regulators, as for us, the gloves are off, we can't take anymore from NR.

I have created a spreadsheet detailing the time, date, and frequency of calls we have / are receiving from Northern Rock, and have submitted a copy onto the OFT.
Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.

All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional

What you are doing sounds like a good idea. I will do the same with regards to Halifax. I will be interested to hear how you get on and I will post an update when I get some results.

Hi there, its terrible when they keep getting on the phone in the end we changed our number as we were sicl of lloyds calling us. We did not have to pay for the number change. Also it does tend to settle down when you have been on a payment plan for a while if our experience is anything to go by.

Found this thread I posted a little while back. I know it's hard, but try and have a few giggles at their expense instead!

That's a very good idea. A particular catalogue company used to ring me several times a day, even after I sent them the letter requesting all contact be in writing. One day I finished with one call & the phone rang again immediately afterwards - it was them again! I sarcastically told them that the first caller should have yelled out "If anyone needs to speak to Ms WDIAG, I've got her on the phone if you want a word" & saved themselves having to call twice. My phone allows me to personalise outgoing messages & ringtones for particular numbers, so I set one up for them, saying I was sorry I couldn't take their call at the moment & gave them two alternative numbers to ring, & also set it so that they couldn't leave a message. I would have loved to see their faces when they rang the numbers - one was for my local Trading Standards office & the other was for the OFT. They wrote to me after that.... :D

I've got other people doing it now. One of my friends' outgoing message gives another council's waste disposal service. Another friend who was really stressed from phone calls composed a short piece on what to do when parasites invade your home, recited in a Vera Duckworth voice. They couldn't leave a message on the line, but she would laugh every time she heard the ringtone as she knew who was calling & what they'd be listening to. My cousin has a really sarcastic voice on one of hers repeatedly saying "Why don't you just get lost?" for a specific number. It doesn't stop them contacting you in the immediate future, but we've had loads of fun setting them up. :D

Hi everyone.Am new to this forum and it is great to know that l am not alone!
Have been ill and unale to work for over a year and am getting further and further into debt.Have contacted Payplan but dont have enough spare money each month to set up a plan so have had to deal with companies myself and negotiate £1.00 per month token payment. Most have agreed to that temporarily but l dont know for how much longer.
Have decided that the only way out is to sell my home and release some equity.Drastic l know but cant cope with the phone calls and threats much longer.
Keep strong all you other people in the same situation. There are days when l dont think l can go on much longer, but always seem to manage to.lts just pretty awful going through all this.l feel such a failure.

    Thanks for posting dibdab,

You seem to be a very storng person, but I hope you know that NOBODY has the right to threaten or harrass you, ESPECIALLY nameless-faceless people representing creditors, even if it doesn't always feel that way. You are NOT a failure and you CAN go on :grouphug:

I don't know enough about your situation to say whether selling up is the only option, but please send out the 'no-phone-contact' letters and try to negotiate before doing anything drastic! Why not post your circumstances on this board and see if we can make any suggestions? We are a friendly bunch and a problem shared is a problem halved ;)
