Copying images from Android phone to PC

Options
Whenever I first used my Nokia phone and tried to download to the PC the images a program seemed to come up automatically whenever I plugged the USB in. Maybe it's something built into Windows 10

Anyway, my phone has only about 150 images which I just leave on the phone, but then I may add a couple of videos.

However when I insert the USB cable the program finds over 6000 images and sometimes just freezes and I have to start the whole process again. I just unselect all the files and click the few I need, although more often or not I have to guess, as there is no icon showing details. Luckily it is easy to spot a video file

Where are these extra images coming from?

Try using Chrome browser and Google Photo.
An Android phone works together with Chrome on a Win 10 PC.
You have access to Google Drive/Gmail/Maps/Calendar/Contacts and much more.
I have just migrated from Outlook because my office 2007 will not work on my latest Win 10 laptop.
  • Don't know where extra are coming from ...

But do you have any good reason not to be using Google Photos ?

With that they would be automatically backed up to the 'cloud' (make sure to set it to only back up on wi-fi) and would be accessible from your PC too

Less chance of losing any of them then if future

Thank you for the replies and advice
I've just been on to Google Photos .. I must have joined ages ago.
I previously sold on Ebay and used my phone to take pictures. It seems all those phots are now being stored on my 'Google drive' or whatever its called.
That's where all the extra images are coming from.

Google Photos are no longer a part of Google Drive: -

But photos that were in Google Drive before the move, should still be accessible. You must have had a Google account in order to have used Google Photos within Google Drive. If you continue to use Google Photos, you photos will remain accessible. I use an android phone and tablet, which back up my photos as they are linked: I also backup Google Photos to my desktop, wife's phone and her laptop. Wife also links to my phone and any photos taken with hers or my phone, are automatically backed up to each phone, via our separate but linked Google accounts.

I have over 3,000 photos saved on my NAS in Windows. Any Google photo I intend to keep, is transferred to the appropriate folder in the appropriate album.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

I can't speak for Robisere but, being an old person, I have many more than 3000 photos on my computer!
