Confused about insurance searches on credit history

I've just had a note that my credit score has been updated.


All is good on the score front, but on checking the non-affecting searches I see that over 20 insurance searches were run during the week against me.


My car insurance is due soon, but I've not started looking at quotes yet.


I think it may be Confused, but I didn't (knowingly) ask them to do me a quote this year.


How can I find out?

Ah - having posted here, I went and logged in to Confused (had to reset my passwd) and I found my old car there.


I deleted it and unsubscribed from all notifications.


So, I guess I've answered my question, but perhaps this will give a nudge to other folks to check for unintended/unwanted things being run on your behalf...

I don't think anyone but you can see these soft searches but I don't think anyone should be allowed to do this without your specific permission ie you opt in not opt out.

Soft searches aren’t visible to lenders.

Neither is your “credit score” for that matter.

Check your report, not the made up score.

They’ve ran quotation searches presumably because you specified the data your car insurance is due for renewal.
