Petrol vs diesel

  • As long as periodically you do some motorway driving, you will be fine in a Diesel. Just bear in mind that diesels offer vastly superior mpg as long as they are not just used for short trips. It takes a diesel a good few miles to start running efficiently.

Note - I do about 12k pa mostly on 30/40 mph roads with a monthly motorway trip. The "local" journeys often still take over an hour, so they're local roads, not short trips. I've never had an issue with the DPF.
If you don't need to drive into any of the cities likely to be banning diesels, then you can pick up some bargains in the used car market currently.

Bit exaggerated ? In practical terms probably 7-15% .
