Stuck window handle button.

Hi,
My window handle stopped working in my bedroom the other day. I throught the actual handle was broken but I have just realised that it is the button that is broken. Does anyone know how to remove the button? There are two screws holding the handle into place. One at the top, which I can take out, and one at the bottom underneath the handle
(pictured). I would prefer not to get anyone out to fix it.
Thanks!

Presumably you find that you can't press down the button to move the handle to the open position?
Can you turn the key in the lock? If so, try turning it a few times and, once it's in the unlocked position, you may find the button then goes down.
You can't remove the handle to replace it because, when it's locked, one of the screws is covered by the handle. If you get desperate, slide a length of copper pipe over the handle to give extra leverage and then force the handle to move, which will probably break the lock and allow you to get to the other screw. This worked for me anyway, but it's at your own risk!0 -
A little squirt of WD40 or similar often sorts mine out, along with the advice above.0

If you can’t sort it out they are inexpensive and easy to replace with a new one0

Just as another thought, have you tried another key in there?
Another point is that you need to lubricate the mechanism as far as possible occasionally.
That's the gearbox and shoot bolts in the window.
I use a PTFE spray lubricant for that.0 -
They're £3-£5 on amazon for white ones or brushed chrome for a little more, so its no big deal if it doesn't fix - I was surprised how cheap they are to replace when I had a similar issue with one in my old house, and they're very easy to swap out. YouTube full of videos that will show you how.0

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions.
I have managed to open the window. Im sure someone suggested it but I slid an old credit card inside the handle, I had tried it before however it didnt work. However with the handles I have, I had to put it in at a certain angle and it finally clicked open! I am going to order a new handle though.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
