Foreign currency

I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this.

If I was to purchase foreign currency (dollars and euros) on my credit card would it be classed as a purchase or a cash advance ?

(I've assumed you will buy them from M&S Travel Money with your M&S &more card).

That’s news to me. Sending money through Western Union can also be an exception and will probably count as a purchase too, although you pay an extra percentage with a credit card anyway. I’m sure there must be other exceptions.

From wherever with my HSBC card actually as 0% for 12 month on PURCHASES. Will they treat this as a purchase or cash advance ??
