Should I Buy a Another Car?

As it's things that wear out, I'd fix them.anotheruser wrote: »It was a bit less as I deferred some work.
Major service (past two have been mini ones)
New exhaust box
New front brakes
Rear brake adjustment
A few other small bits
MOT
Does the car really need a major service? I just done the oil and filter on my 10 year old, 122k mile Ford, everything else is as and when required.0 -
I'd suggest you buy some tools and learn to repair it yourself, could have done that lot for about a third the cost.
A new car on finance is not the only way to solve this issue.
I run 3 older cars, and do most of the work myself, and saved a fortune over the years.0 -
The Focus petrol engines are generally very good...simple n/a petrol..minimal to go wrong and they are proven workhorses across Ford, Mazda and Volvo models.
That said the same can't be said for the other bits on high mileage Ford's...rust etc
My MK1 focus is only on 73k but touch wood continues to soldier on..air con still ice cold too
Assuming nothing else goes wrong your engine should go to 200k..depending on how it's been serviced and driven.0 -
Is this the work thats been done? Full service, new exhaust new mot, just keep it.anotheruser wrote: »It was a bit less as I deferred some work.

Didn't go for a new set of belts (and associated work). It's a little hissy, but had the belts changed at about 80,000 I think.
Find out when the belts need doing and budget for them or hope you have an easy mot next year and start saving for a replacement.0 -
£900 for that work?? Did you take it to the most expensive main dealer in the most expensive county in the country?? £500 should have covered all that (inc the cambelt change), possibly with a bit of change...
Maybe check out the Bangernomics thread for what you could do...
