M&S Credit Card and Current Account

Hi
I was intending to apply for the M&S current account, including a switch to get the full switch bonus and access to the regular saver. I decided to try and max out the bonus by applying for a credit card first. This is where a spanner has been thrown into the works. I did their soft search to try and insure success but having come back saying I would likely to be successful for three of their cards my application has failed. This is my first rejection for any sort of credit or bank account application (this could be the problem I suppose - no money to be made here). What I'm wondering now is this likely to have an effect on my current account application?
In the way of further info I'm aready a HSBC and First Direct customer.
Any comments or indeed a similar experience with M&S would be most welcome.

Hope you were not hopping to do a balance transfer to M/S for FD or HSBC. As it is not possible due to same co, in effect.Life in the slow lane0
