Tesco Debit Cards and Clubcard Points

Probably better here than in the shopping forum.


How do you maximise the clubcard points on petrol ? Tesco can't seem to come up with a straight answer.


It states that using the debit card as the clubcard you get 2 points per £1 rather than the 1 point per £2 from the clubcard and 1point per £1 from the debit card. How do you use the debit card as the clubcard as it doesn't scan. How can you use the debit card in store as the clubcard ? Do you just not use the separate clubcard and it does it automatically ?

Isn't it an automatic thing? I have Tesco credit card which is also my Tesco clubcard so when I shop in Tesco and get asked for my clubcard I produce my credit card and then get asked if I want to pay on it as well. If I use the automated tills I insert the credit card when asked for clubcard and then get the question about paying on it as well. I would have thought that the debit cards would work in a similar manner.

Thanks, that is the answer I couldn't get from Tesco. Will give it a go next time

Used pay at pump today. It asked to scan clubcard or insert payment card. Put debit card in reader and it asked if I wanted to use this card for payment. Pressed yes and it went on to PIN screen. 1 point per £ shown on receipt so another point per £ to be added in a couple of days for debit card use.

Yep the debit card basically acts as your clubcard wherever you use it.
