PIP - Recent Award

That was the point I was making actually. I wasn't suggesting that it is impossible, or that people shouldn't try. Quite the reverse, I was agreeing with the poster that it isn't, and specifically to someone who said that if people "thought" they wouldn't qualify, why would they even apply.poppy12345 wrote: »I also completely disagree with that. It's definitely not impossible to qualify for PIP as i proved this myself with my own claim and my daughters. There are people out there who apply and are successfully awarded without any problems at all but remember on an internet forum, it's obvious that you will mostly on ever hear the bad stories.
I am certainly not defending the DWP, saying that they always get it right, nor that all claimants are right in their views of themselves - either way.
It seems like a simple point - that it can be a straightforward process to get PIP and not to be afraid of applying - has been lost in translation and now people are taking that as an attack on other posters, claimants and anyone else they can think of.. Sorry if trying to give people the message that it is not all doom and gloom isn't de rigour. I wasn't attacking any posters at all - just saying that success stories aren't the ones that often get posted. I can see why now. I'll leave this board to the experts because obviously others aren't welcome.0 -
You're being overly defensive.. you presented a 99.9% figure which is clearly exaggeration (or you have been looking at places very different than here) and is unhelpful when boards like this can provide valuable advice and direction. Boards like this have significant positive input, success stories and good advice as well as caution. But the reason success stories will be under-represented is extremely logical and nothing likely much to do with the attitude of those trying to assist others - people are much less likely to go onto advice boards to say they need no advice than they are to say they need advice. So unsurprisingly you see lots of requests for advice, direction and sometimes assistance when things go wrong. Ultimately many who do request advice go on to have positive stories. Many of the people posting here have successfully claimed these benefits and state so and in my fleeting visits over the years I think the ethos has largely been to support and encourage people to get what they're entitled to. There are the odd posters time to time trying to target claimants for political or personal reasons but that's typically pushed back against. My concern is with posts like your 99.9% one is that it could deter people from coming here to get useful advice to get benefits... as they may anticipate an environment which is not accurate. If someone comes here saying they suffer x, can they get ESA or PIP, then typically they're going to be directed to the criteria and encouraged to apply if they think they meet it... it is very unlikely they'll be advised it is "impossible to get what you are entitled to". The other 2 most recent active PIP threads on this board run absolutely counter to your claims. The 3rd most recent unfortunately doesn't have a response but probably because the poster seems to be presenting information only and may be difficult to support. And 4th most recent is actually from the Op of this thread who considers they may have been given the wrong rate for PIP mobility and has been given advice in response. That covers the first page of threads regarding PIP... none of them fall into the bracket you describe as 99.9%... not even remotely.Blatchford wrote: »Sorry if trying to give people the message that it is not all doom and gloom isn't de rigour.
