PIP - Mandatory Reconsideration

Hi guys

Just a very quick question.

I was recently awarded PIP, standard rate of care and standard rate of mobility.

I received 10 points for the mobility, so I'm two points off of enhanced rate.

There's a descriptor under mobility where I received 0 points, but I think I'm possibly entitled to two points - perhaps not, but it's worth a try.

My question - is it possible to ask for a reconsideration of a single descriptor, to ensure I don't have points taken away on the others in case they deem the original decision incorrect?

Thanks in advance!

Which part of mobility did you score the points in and which descriptor do you think you should have been award 2 points? You can't score twice for the same activity, so bare that in mind.
  • Thanks Poppy

    On Mobility:

    '2. Moving around' - I scored 10 points.

I have a low, but possible chance of scoring the 4 points required for '1. Planning and following journeys' - I scored 0 initially.

If I can requested a review of that descriptor then I will and submit some evidence I have, but if that means they review the whole award then I won't.

This would take be to 14 points for mobility and entitle me to the enhanced rate.

    Thanks again.

There's always a chance you could lose everything you already have when requesting the MR, although most decisions remain the same. It has been known for people to lose points and well as gain them.

Whether or not you'll score points for following and planning a journey will depend on how your conditions affect you. Sometimes working can go against you, if the work you do contradicts the reasons you're claiming.
