CMC (Claims Management Company) re PPI not authorised

I have just received a PPI payout notification that was previously, apparently inaccurate. After further investigation, it seems Barclays were incorrect.
Barclays have written stating “We have noted from the FCA that your Claims Management Company (CMC) is not currently authorised to act on behalf of customers. As they cannot provide regulated services to you, we will need to communicate directly with you. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that there is no requirement for you to be represented by a third party and we are happy to progress your complaint without the involvement of a CMC or solicitor. However, please check your rights in relation to any obligations you have concerning any CMC you have appointed to act on your behalf.”
MY TWO QUESTIONS PLEASE:
Firstly, Am I correct in thinking that, as the CMC is not authorised, I do not need to contact them. They were originally charging 39% fees!
Secondly, I received a PPI payout through the CMC back in 2016 for a different PPI claim and had to pay 39% fees back then, before the PPI cap was introduced. Am I able to claim back these 39% fees from that time, as they were not regulated?
Many thanks for any help.

First point - no, you don’t need to contact them.

Second point - they may have been regulated then but even if not, good luck getting a penny out of them.

What CMC is it? Harrington’s advisory?
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)
  • Thank you for your quick reply, much appreciated. The CMC is called “Claims Advisory Group”. I realise I should have read the T&C’s at the time but was so busy, I just agreed to starting a PPI claim over the phone.
