If only they had the infrastructure in place before they started installing smart meters... and no doubt its the consumers who will end up paying (not just by ending up with not-so-smart smart meters) financially.
If any of use made such a mess-up of a project at work, wouldn't we end up being sacked for it?0 -

I don't understand why they would go to landfill if what they are saying about an upgrade were true. :huh:Simplicity energy said it is waiting for the first generation meters to have an upgrade, rather than install the newer version, which it believes will happen shortly. The firm said "our strategy is to complete our roll-out programme and run down our stocks of SMETS 1 meters to avoid them becoming landfill".
Surely, any business who really believed they would soon be upgraded could simply put them into storage, until the upgrade was rolled out
I cannot comment as to whether it cuts costs, but having one certainly does not cut prices, so I fail to see how it is a benefit to the customer on that front. The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy said ...
"Smart meters provide a much better service for customers over traditional meters. This is particularly the case for pre-payment customers by cutting costs," it added.
So who's lying here?Bristol Energy said any installations of SMETS1 meters since March have been because customers are on pre-payment meters.
...
British Gas agrees, adding there "have been some industry-wide delays with the infrastructure for SMETS2 pre-payment meters which means we're not yet installing SMETS2 to all of these customers."
...
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy said "the network for the North is fully operational, with thousands of second generation meters being installed every day.
The two competitor suppliers or the Department BEIS? Can't see how both sides are telling the truth. :huh:0
