One-Way Travel Insurance?

Options
I'm travelling to Australia next week to live permanently, and I can't find any company to provide travel cover. Very few companies will even consider one-way and if they do, their cover is restricted to under-65s. Mention pre-existing medical conditions and they can't get off the phone quickly enough.

I basically need medical cover for about 30 hours - if I have to cancel before I go, too bad I'll just lose the fare. If I lose my luggage, too bad it's only things. I'm covered medically 'til the moment I leave UK soil and from the moment I land in Australia - it's just that period between.

Unless somebody knows any company that will cover me, I'll have to break the golden rule of never travelling without insurance.

Any help gratefully received. TIA.

There are loads of migration insurance companies. Btw unless you already have a Medicare card I'd get insurance for longer.

I have a Medicare card as I have PR.

If there are "loads" of migration insurance companies I haven't been able to find one who will cover me - perhaps you could recommend one?

You will find that most Travel Insurers will provide one way Travel Insurance. Obviously subject to application details.

BUT you cannot buy such a policy online ( or i could find no option). You have to phone the companies and request a single trip quotation, but amended as it is for a one-way trip.

Insure & Go have details of One way cover online if you search. But most will be able to offer such a policy. So pick your provider of choice and give them a call.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
