Prepayment to direct debit
Hi all
Moved into a house last June. We currently have pre payment meters for the gas and electric (British Gas).
We have a young son and another baby in the way so we no longer want to worry about having to top up the meters and now want to go to a standard meter with direct debit etc.
Going by experience when we first moved into another house 10 years ago, British Gas were really awkward in getting the meters changed due to the history of the house (nothing to do with us, used to be a rental property with various credit issues with the occupants) so British Gas refused to change us over.
Fast forward to this new house, which is also an ex rental property to various occupants!
Just after some advice if anyone knows of any of the energy companies will change the meters over free of charge (or at minimal cost)?
We would be looking at having smart meters as well.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
