Autotrader prices

Hi,
I've been looking for a used car on auto trader and it seems the prices -even the private ones- are around £2k more than What Car prices estimates for an £8k car!

Anywhere you can buy a car for closer to the WC estimates?

Facebook, gumtree, etc. But be careful. Many "private" sellers arent.

Private sellers often over estimate what their cars are worth. The car supermarket advertised prices are a good guide because they don't negotiate much. Although they do reduce them if they don't sell. Carguru gives a history of price changes, quite useful.

The market dictates the price, not What Car guide prices.

WBAC gives you a reasonable baseline for a cars value. Obviously a dealer will add business costs and profit.

Use Autotraders own valuation tool.
It's been quite accurate for us a couple of times over the past couple of years when family cars were written off.
