Hope someone can help me,
I need to sell my car due to having my license medically revoked so no longer need a car for the foreseeable future.
My car is two years old with very low mileage ( under 4500) i’ve Tried selling it locally but not getting any interest or just silly offers.

What is the best way to sell it without it costing me ££££s in fees

Thanks for your help

Have you tried getting an offer from a main dealer? They'd be v. interested in it I'm sure.

Do you have someone else who can drive the car or are you relying on it being collected?

If you can get it to them, webuyanycar.com will give you bottom end trade in for it. You may do a lot better if there's a local car dealer who will be able to come and get it.
  • I usually find Autotrader the best place to sell a car. Yes it costs a fee but it's usually worth it.

The trouble is the market is small for 2 year old privately sold cars. Buyers don't like paying out £10k plus to a private buyer with no comeback. You will get private buyers but your car will have to be quite a bit cheaper than what dealers are selling them for.

2,000 miles a year is not really a plus point. It means that the car has mainly been used for short town runs, never got up to working temp, lots of wear on the brakes, clutch, gearbox, etc. If it's a diesel, then the DPF will not regenerate properly.
I'd suggest a main dealer too, just don't tell them the reason you are selling it.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

They haven't built a car that cant be sold. It's the money, always the money, As said above, most will want to buy a 2yo low miler from a main dealer, so you need to be at least 10% below them.

    Anyway:

    Get it cleaned
take some nice photos of it against a decent background, giving a virtual 'tour' of the car
describe it properly, getting the plus points across - eg 1 owner, FSH, only 4500 miles, aircon, alloys, etc etc.
put it on auto trader for 2 weeks
reduce it £100 every 2-3 days if no calls
once you get 2 or 3 calls you know its priced right
    allow test drives
    negotiate

Thank you all for your replies I think I’ll see if I can get someone to take me round to a dealer next week and see what they’re offering.

Also try https://www.wewantanycar.com/, they usually offer better price compared to webuyanycar.
