Hi
I am struggling to find a company that will renew my buildings and contents insurance because my house is currently up for sale and current insurance runs out at the end of this month? Any ideas?

Is there even a question asking if your house is up for sale?
Just renew normally and then cancel when you move. I should imagine not many people happen to move on the exact day their insurance expires!2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Not sure why it would be a problem - I've just tried one of the comparison sites, selecting "Yes" to "is the property for sale", and have got what seems to be a healthy range of quotes at much the same prices as normal.0

Agree with the above, plus is your current insurer not offering renewal terms?0

Thanks Hazyjo and davidmcn
I also saw the "is the property for sale" option, but cannot remember which one it was, duh!0 -
Hi pinkteapot (what a lovely name btw)
I was shopping around as current insurer has increased too much.0 -
Ahhh, OK. Well, I would say that *if* you can't find another insurer, better to have expensive insurance than no insurance. That being said, I'm also surprised you can't find someone else. It woudn't have occurred to me to tell an insurer.
How have you been getting quotes? Phone or online?0 -
I definitely need insurance and will probably renew with the same one who also cover house removals, even thought it is more expensive.
"it's better to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it" - what I'm constantly telling my sons and grandchildren.0 -
Just shop around as normal, but then before selecting, check the cancellation terms.
* do they refund the premium paid pro rate?
* is there an admin fee and how much?0
