Do you lose your NI Credit if sanctioned?

Can anyone tell me what happens to your NI Credit if you are sanctioned whilst receiving benefits? Is it still paid or do you lose it and therefore lose a whole year's qualifying year towards the state pension?

Seems a bit ridiculous but it's flying round Twitter and Facebook just now.

I'm not receiving any benefit but the people posting this were talking about Universal Credit.

51.If a claimant does not uphold the ‘Claimant Commitment’ and receives a sanction they will lose their benefit for a set period of time. However, they will not lose their NI credits for that period as this would punish them twice.

Problem is they expect you to keep jumping through the hoops even when sanctioned. Under UC this means you get no money at all so people stop jumping, this leads to them getting kicked off UC and potentially losing NI contributions.

That is their choice, you still need to meet the benefit requirements even if you are only receiving NI credits.
