Cover for Boiler that includes Servicing

What sort of prices are people paying for Boiler cover and yearly servicing?
There's that many to choose from, CORGI HomePlan, 247HomeRescue, BritishGas, the list goes on..
Would I be cheaper just getting breakdown cover for the boiler and then paying a local gas engineer to do a yearly service?

Personally i just "self insure" and i pay for any repairs/servicing as required.

The example above paying £28 per month is £336 per year. So considering a new boiler can be installed for around £1500 after 4.5 years of paying this you would have enough money for a brand new one. A boiler will certainly last much longer than 4 and half years so it's not very good value for money.

The general rule is that all insurance companies will price their insurance so they make money. So when your considering low value items such as Mobile Phones, Boilers, Laptops etc it usually works out better to just self insure and repair/replace as required.
  • I had an Alpha Boiler installed by an approved Alpha Installation Technician. The installation company registered the installation with Alpha. We have a maintenance contract with Alpha that includes a yearly service for approx £7.50/month. In event of breakdown, repairs and parts are also covered.
