Carol, no one is going to recommend you to a loan shark!
Have a look on the left-hand side of this screen, where it says 'Banking & Loans'. Martin has listed all the cheapest loans from reputable lenders. Make sure you know what you're signing up to, read all the small print in detail, especially how much interest you'll be paying i.e. what that £3000 will cost you.

Hi Carol,
It doesn't sound like a very nice situation. I understand you feel the need to borrow money and no one will lend it to you. It sounds very unpleasant. We can't stop you from going to a loan shark, but in the long run it will cause more problems than it solves.
There are no cheap and safe loan sharks, they can continue to ruin your life. You don't say whether you are already in debt or need it for new borrowing.
So the best suggestion i can make at this point is go to one of the special free debt help agencies, they will deal with your issues without judging you and will try and offer options that can help. Please do this, I understand you're obviously feeling very low and scared, and that isn't nice.
If you look at the top of the screen you'll see some links to National Debtline, the Consumer Credit Counselling Service and Citizens advice. Why not just pick up the phone to National Debtline and see what they say.
Let us know. And if you feel comfortable doing so come back and tell us a bit more so we can have a think (however don't reveal too many personal details).
Best of luck

Sorry Carol, thought we were in the debt free board. So the links to the counselling services arent in this board. If you go to the banking and loans section (left hand menu) and read 'where to start with problem debts' you will see the links for the counselling service at the end, why not try national debtline first, then you can just call them and see how it goes

Hi Carol, I would just like to correct Martin in that the said links are in fact at the top of the board in the Useful Websites thread, and have been for some time. As others have said, there are many friendly people on this site, some may have already been in your situation or are going through the same thing, so please come back and chat.MSE_Martin wrote:Sorry Carol, thought we were in the debt free board.
