Boots Advantage Card: bonus points disappearing from online purchases

I have found what seems to be a technical bug with the Advantage Card system when buying online.
I make a large online purchase every month for the same amount, and collect from my local store. I try and time this to get bonus points when they are available.
Five times over the past year, the bonus points have clearly appeared in pink on the order web page - and on the email that confirms the order. HOWEVER, afterwards those points then disappear and do not get added.
Checking my points statement online, it seems that this *only* happens with the special bonus points (1000 extra points, 20 points per pound, etc). The normal 4 points per pound spent do always get added.


I would urge anyone spending online to always check their bonus points, and phone the Advantage Card dept if they are incorrect.

I have been told that "It does take a few days after purchase for points to show up" so perhaps check after a week, so as not to be told to wait a bit longer.

The fact that this pattern has been repeated identically 5 times now tells me this is not a one-off issue.


**Edited to add: I emailed them on 10 Sept with the initial enquiry, then on 18 Sept to ask for an update. Boots still have not replied to me.

    It's still happening, in fact it's worse now. Just found that no points AT ALL - bonus or ordinary - were added on a June order, that's nearly 300 points missed.
    Once again, folks, if you have an Advantage Card, points will be clearly shown on the Boots order page, and Boots emails - but that does *not* mean they will actually get added.  You must check about a week after collection/delivery, points are not added for a few days. Keep a note of all order numbers, and a running total of your points. You may be surprised how many go missing if you order online.
  • 18 months on, it is STILL happening on every order. Up to 14 days to rectify?
    Boots, if anyone's listening, your system *cannot* correctly apply Advantage Card points earned online, especially bonus points.   This is another £11.23 worth of points you somehow lost, from 3 different orders!
    Will be in touch again next month, Boots - as usual.

    I’m glad they issued your points! How long did it take for them to respond to you with this problem? Did they put up much of a fight about it?

    I placed an order before Christmas and hadn’t realised I had some offers not loaded onto my card, including a month long double points one. I emailed with hope to see if these could be added but didn’t get a response, though I know it’s their busiest time of year. Placed another large order after Christmas though, making sure the offers were definitely activated this time - but none of these bonus points have been added on. The confirmation email only details the standard points and 0 bonus points. Very frustrating and in all honesty it’s just not good enough. I’ve emailed again but still waiting for a response, I hope they will give me the points I earned, including the double points on my first order... I know it was my fault for not loading them prior, but I still feel I should be given them, as it was a sizeable order and it would be a goodwill gesture after the inconvenience! Very unimpressed to learn this is a long time ongoing issue, almost as if they’re hoping people won’t notice.

    Don't email, phone.
    Same thing happened to me and the guy on the Help Desk was clearly aware of the issue and put the missing points straight back on. Didn't have to queue too long either.

  • Appreciate this is an old thread, but just to say this still seems to be happening. My last two orders (at least) have been missing bonus points :(.
