hi, i have some debt on my bank card and need to transfer it it to a credit card. ive never had one before. iam not going to spend on it, just try and pay off my existing debt. iam with barclays.
which card do i go for? does the existing debt transfer automatically?

My son has been doing this for a while now but the credit card companies changed the rules since the whole switching business started and they are now charging 2.5 to 3% of the balance on the card to make the switch. I believe they used to add it to the amount being switched but now they want this fee to be paid up front. There are some very good "life of transfer"deals around. This is where they charge a low interest rate but for the whole period until it ends. You need to read the articles at the top of this section.
