O/S Daily Wednesday 11th September 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Good to see some of missing posters posting again, lovely to see you all x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, air warmer than what it was and we had a heavy downpour for a few minutes earlier, but now has stopped.
Dinner last night was LO's and sausages, not sure about tonight as forgot to get the meat out so will have something reasonably quick, I'll probably do egg, bacon, beans and chips.
Yesterday work was busy in the morning and then slowed down but once staff started finishing at lunchtime then early afternoon we were busier as there were fewer staff, but managed to get away pretty much on time. Last full working day this week for me, but I'm working Saturday morning.
Docs arrived yesterday for one of the admin jobs I sorted last week, and it's incorrect so will be calling them again tomorrow morning to get that rectified and new docs sent out again. I'll have the usual "to do" list tomorrow also.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Still no baby!
Fairly decent morning at the moment, last night we had torrential rain and it was pretty windy too. I had to do some washing last night, the basket was overflowing so that's on the rack and airers.
The hygienist appt yesterday was an appt with the dentist, I'm having a veneer put on a tooth that's slowly disappearing behind another so had the moulds taken. Back again in 2 weeks.
Lovely to see you again tru, I've missed you!
Have a happy Wednesday, take care. XX0 -
Good morning, dull and rainy although the weather report says it is dry. Wrong.
Yesterday things dried up late in the day so I did some work in the garden, went to bed early but had a patchy night with nightmares about wasps - they are my dreaded thing.
Today I don't have fixed plans but if it stays dry, might go out. Tomorrow I go to the dentist for crown prep for 3 replacement crowns at the front. Not massively looking forward to this.
I hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all
Dull and overcast here and looks like it might rain, that will make the clients hyper at work today!
Four working days left and this time next week we will bt at the airport, this holiday seems to have been a long time coming.
OH will have a pie for his dinner tonight and I will have a chicken breast and veg I am very close to losing 2.5 st so would like to get there before next week if possible, I know I will put some on on holiday but I will get back on the diet afterwards.
Need to do a wash tonight and will hang it on the airer.
Tru how lovely to see you back, hope youve been ok xx
We need Nelski back now ! xx
Camelot and baby news ?
Have good days xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Wild, wet and windy outside! And blooming chilly too.
After my busy day yesterday I hope to have a quieter time though I really must go out. There's nothing on the agenda apart from a telephone appointment with DM's doctor later on this afternoon.
I made a replacement pot of soup, it's packed with veg, no haricort beans, though DM moaned that it was too sweet. It's the carrots no doubt. I just wish she wouldn't moan about everything I present to her whether it's homemade or a ready meal. Perhaps I should be grateful that she can still complain.
Dumpling - how was the visit yesterday?
Good luck to those undergoing dental procedures. My cosmetic work has finished so I can sympathise. Moulds are the worst thing.
I must get my happy attitude back, it's got a bit lost recently. A lovely chap started to talk to me on the bus and I totally blanked him,in a polite way. Earlier another chap very politely said 'good morning' to me as he took a seat in the bank. As we were in the booth I just said to him that the booth was taken by staff without even returning his greeting. Must do better.
Right, thoughts are still with all those who are struggling. Meanwhile I wish everyone a happy Wednesday.0 -
Morning :hello:
Thanks, it's good to be back!
And we're waiting for a baby, how exciting Camelot
Ooooh ancientofdays I'd love to see a woodpecker in my garden, I'm very jealous
Well done on the weight loss redruby :T
Hope you're OK Gers xx

The shopping is being delivered just before lunch. It's my first order on the new Morrisons website, it took ages because although it transferred my details across, it didn't transfer my shopping lists. I almost gave up but then thought I'd rather build up my favourites again (no shopping list option on the new site) than have to go into an actual shop with actual people
The sky is very grey and it's quite windy, I hope it stays dry at least until we've had our walk. I hope it's quiet out there – Scamp is happy enough with most things but has decided he hates strange dogs on leads (over the fiield, all off-lead, he's fine). They didn't bother him for a while but now they do. It's like he's got to have something to moan about, lol. I would have thought his hatred of cats – along with the dramatic rage he displays when he sees one – would be enough
It's now cool enough to have my blanket on my lap while I crochet it, but I've run out of one of the colours so I can't do it. Will put in an order today and keep myself happy in the meantime by making a pegbag or something.Bulletproof0 -
Morning everyone
I haven’t posted for a while because I realised that I was spending far too much time on the internet so decided to step back from it a bit. I’ve been reading along now and again so have a rough idea of what is going on for everyone.
The ‘summer’ seems to have whizzed by this year, and I didn’t manage as many days out as I have in previous years, but did get to the seaside a fair bit which was good. I even managed to get a short break away with a friend during some of the better weather,
Back to a normal routine now the weather has changed. I’ve started some voluntary work one or two days a week in a local museum, something totally different for me but really enjoyable.
Taff – sorry to hear about your dad, look after yourself as well.
Camelot exciting news about the baby.
Gers take care of yourself as well as your mum. I hope that you manage to sort out some respite soon.
AOD the new house sounds better than where you were previously, and the wildlife in the garden sounds lovely.
Tru great to read about Scampi, I look forward to reading about his exploits.
RR good news on the weight loss.
I hope that you all have a good day xx0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a grey and damp day here this morning. I had an awful night and only managed a couple of hours sleep so a nana nap is definitely on the cards later.
After all my worrying and panicking the meeting only lasted 15 mins. The social worker has gone off to make a plan to get me out of the house so I can see the sea again. I really miss going to the seaside and watching the waves. I may also have some support to do some exercise to try and get me moving again. It was quite a productive meeting but I will see what happens.
Lee's first proper day at College went well and he is going to be actually cooking something today as he needed to take in his chef whites and knives. The knives will stay in a locker in college from now on so he is not carrying them to and fro. I look forward to hearing how it all went.
Goodness knows what I am going to make for dinner today. We have plenty in it's just trying to make a meal out of some of it. I have ordered a new shopping delivery from Asda for the weekend with lots of prepared veg to try and make it a bit easier for me. I don't like doing it really but I can't stand and chop like I used to so this is my compromise as I don't want to rely on ready meals either.
My sister is coming to see me this morning which will be lovely as I haven't seen or heard from any of my family for a few weeks. She will pass on all the family news which will be good to hear.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good news dumpling. I'm glad that it wasn't too stressful for you.
Could the social worker supply you with a perching stool? There are a number of varieties, some with / without arms, some height adjustable. May be worth asking about.0 -
Morning all Holly H how nice to hear from you. I am blad that you got about a bit in the nice weather. Voluntary work in a museum sounds great.
Dumpling well done with the meeting. Sounds very positive. I can see that ready chopped veg is the way to go. My friend has a perching chair for the kitchen which helps. Gers have a hug. Tru I found home grocery delivery so helpful when OH had his neurosurgery. RR well done on your weight loss and hooray for the approaching holidays.
We were woken up by a courtesy call at 8.30 today. Grr!. We may go to Wells today and have a walk tound the market. It is dry but dull so I hope the sun comes out.
Have a good day folks.
Gintot
Edit cross post with Gers re perching stool."It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world"0 -
Morning all,
Thanks for starting us off nmlc
It's good to see you posting Holly ( I like the sound of the museum volunteering.I took DGS to ours last week) and Tru :j -Ly1a doesn't like strange dogs off leads
.Hope there is baby news soon Camelot
It's been bucketing down here but I think it may be brightening now,had to get changed after dogwalking I was so wet.
Dumpling it sounds like your brief meeting could be helpful though- well done not cancelling.Hope Lee cooks something good, will he get to bring it home? Gers it sounds like you need to get out of the house soon. I remember how hard it could be looking after Mum and Dad when they were ill so hugs to you and Taff, and those with dental issues.DS2 has just been telling me about 'dental holidays' in Turkey,he needs some crowns.
RR great to hear how well you've done with your weight loss. I'm gearing myself up to try again as I've not been eating well this summer( or perhaps too well
)
DGD for tea,DGS is coming tomorrow instead.
I've been sorting some of my surplus cardmaking stuff to send to the CS.I haven't done any for ages but had to quickly find a sympathy card to give to a neighbour so might give it a go again as my stocks of cards have run low now. Luckily I had a sympathy one left .
Right better get cracking with my jobs. Hope you all enjoy your day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
