Economy 2000 tarrif + thermaflow

I'm wondering if anyone could help me.

We have recently bought a flat in Glasgow that has a thermaflow bioler. The seller adviised us to use the economy 2000 tarrif with Scottish power which he was on. We have contacted Scottish power and they have advised that economy 2000 is not a tarrif we can use. They claim it doesn't exist.

Does anyone khow we can get on the economy 2000 tarrif with Scottish power or if it has been withdrawn ?

We were excited to use the clean green energy efficient thermoflow bioler. However it appears Scottish power don't want to help the environment. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Derek

It appears this tariff was discontinued a few years ago. If you do a search for thermaflow on this forum you'll see there's not a huge amount of posts and most are fairly old. There is a thread from last year on an electricians forum, its related to a thermaflow boiler but more about their wiring, but it mentions this old Scottish Power tariff. Have a look and see if any of it is relevant to you:

  • Hi Ddmac

Scottish Power are now doing away with this tariff but don’t worry it’s not a bad thing. This used to be the best tariff out there as you were getting your boiler rate from as little as 8p per Kwh and anything else electric from around 13p per Kwh but with rising electricity costs many of our customers are coming to us complaining about Scottish powers rates rising rising to as much as 16p per kWh for the boiler rate and the rest of your electrics at 19p per kWh, just doesn’t compare to many of the other offers power suppliers are offering out there.

So fear not, you can change to any provider!

What you need to do is look on some comparison sites for single rate tariffs obviously you want to be looking for the cheapest all round rate, many of our customers have been changing to bulb as I’ve heard they are the cheapest at 13p per kWh, but electricity companies are battling constantly so do a little searching and you might get something even cheaper.

So this is where is sounds a little complicated but if you follow the below steps it will make it much easier

Once you have found what your looking for call the provider and tell them that the meter you currently have is a 3 rate meter and ask if they can support that - they most likely will say no

This is when you would then need to contact Scottish Power and ask them to change your currently 3 rate meter to a single rate meter, preferably a comfort plus meter - they must do this as no other providers support this and it prevents anyone taking over the meter if you ever wanted to change tariff which anyone is obligated to do

Once they have done this you can change to any supplier you wish

You can contact Thermaflow Ltd. for help on this if needed

    Hope you get it sorted
