Named Driver Accident - Question About Quotes
So I had a Provisional Driver insured as a Named Driver on my policy, and whilst they were in control of the car we had a bump into the side stationary parked vehicle whilst pulling out of a tight parallel parking space. I informed my Insurance straight away of the accident, and we are now in the process of waiting for the Third Party to contact me/insurer with details. We have not made a claim for our own vehicle as the damage is minimal (couple scratches) and are still yet to hear anything from the Third Party (We left a note on the car, and this was now over a week ago and we still haven't heard anything from them  )
I've been worried about how this situation is going to affect my insurance price when it comes to updating the Named Driver from "Provisional License Holder" to "Full UK License Holder"; and because of this I have been looking at quotes online with this accident being added.
My question is that when filling out quotes online, where it asks if I have had any motor accidents or claims in the past 5 years, do I need to select "YES" when filling out MY information, or do I only need to click "YES" when filling out the information for the Named Driver? If it's the first option, then would I also need to select yes for the Named Driver too, and wouldn't this technically be counting the one accident twice?
Thank you

Yes, you will need to inform them of the named drivers accident history.0

Yes, you (as policyholder) have had a claim.
Yes, the other driver has been in a collision.
No, it's not counting twice.0 -
As above.
You have had a claim (or if you don't claim, have suffered a loss), and you have to declare it when asked.
The other driver has had an accident and this has to be declared, both on your policy if they are a named driver, and their own when they get one.
So there is an element of "doubling up" but you will no doubt be explaining that it was the same incident in a telephone conversation.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

From my experience, insurance companies treat it as if you had the accident. They don’t seem to differentiate between a claim where you were not involved and a claim where you were driving.0

Having your business has meant an insurer has paid out. Which means having your business puts an insurer at higher likelihood of paying out in the future.
That's what they want to know...0
