Bulb Energy Overpaying me?

Hi all,

I switched over to bulb energy back in June and they used an estimated reading, not sure why as i did submit a meter reading immediately after joining. In July instead of charging me they have credited me £123.93. This is because a further meter reading i submitted was less than their estimated read.

Obviously this is some sort of system error, but the question is do you think i am in the clear?

Was the estimated opening read used by Bulb ,the same as the reading used by the previous supplier to close your account in June? Or did the previous Utility Co. use your reading??

To be honest not sure. I was previously on a smart meter with British Gas though so if they did use a reading from British Gas it should have been accurate.

Important to check - you may have "overpaid" an equivalent amount to BG if ,for some reason ,they used the estimate - which may actually have been as a result of the verification steps between gaining and losing supplier.

Think you are correct. Just checked my final statements with BG and i was around £170 in credit. As far as i'm aware i haven't had any this back so that must be were the 'extra' has come from. Thanks

Did you actually get a final bill from BG? The final meter read should be shown on there ,together with the calculations including standing charges to the date of changeover.

    Hi, Getting there now.

Turns out i left BG with my account £12 in credit which they refunded me, so no issues there.

Also bulb have the same reading for electric as when i left BG, So no issues there either.

Gas however i left BG with a final usage of 00592. Bulbs opening estimate on 14th June was 1022 (not sure where they got this from). I then sent them a meter reading on 24th June of 00596. On next bill date of 15th July they said the cost of gas used is minus £151.94! Which is the amount they have credited my account.
