Magazine Advertising

I am a sole trader and I took out a 1/2 page advert with a company to run for 6 months from the end of July. They have stopped replying to my emails, don't answer the phone and the shop where the magazine was supposed to be in, doesn't have the magazine. Where do I stand on my £312 payment for a service I have not received?

If there is no answer from the supplier, then they have probably vanished, along with your money.
What credit checks did you do on this business before parting with your hard earned cash?0 -
What's the name and address of the company you sent your money off to?
What's the name of the magazine you spent £312 for a 1/2 page advert in?0 -
I checked they were registered with Companies House and they had recent filings, and also on companycheckuk, they seemed totally legit and I had no concerns initially.0

you have 2 options:
a) check the list of liquidations and bankruptcies and file a claim as an unsecured creditor with the liquidator

or
b) if still trading, take legal action
what else did you think you could do?0 -

With the knowledge you already have of Companies House services (although I never knew they provided credit reports ), you will be aware on how to check whether the company still exists, and if so, that Companies House lists as a public record, the contact address of that company.
An address at which it must be possible to legally serve notice to or on the company.0 -

It's strange that the magazine disappeared from the shops at the same time as you paid, although there may be many reasons. Try asking the store owner why they aren't stocked anymore. See if any other local stores are stocking it. It's likely other shops would've stocked it too..
Stay persistent trying to contact them in the meantime. Do they have any online presence such as a website or any social media? Most magazines would have a website to share stories and sign-up subscriptions.0 -
I'm going to assume this was a magazine that no-one has ever heard of before either...0
